Iranian dialects are a rich source of linguistic data which could be used in the linguistics of Iranian languages. This paper deals with etymology of 12 archaic words from diverse Iranian dialects. For each word, after investigating the same word or its cognates in the other Iranian dialects and languages, its Old Iranian form has been reconstructed and its sound changes from Old Iranian up to Iranian dialects have been examined. The list of words examined in this paper are as follows: arde / âla»side, half«, hast / ast»house, yard«, daha»awn«, bīg / gwask»goat, calf«, gūn»udder«, jeven»grain mortar«, jəxūn»threshing-floor«, kahra»goat, kid«, kətū»dog«, mâl»cattle, quadrupeds«, tâta»uncle«, xal»bent, crooked«. ریشه­شناسی واژگان گویش‌های مختلف ایرانی هم به شناخت بیشتر ویژگی‌های آوایی این گویش‌ها کمک می­کند، هم به ریشه­شناسی واژه­های فارسی و دیگر زبان‌ها و گویش‌های ایرانی. گویش‌های ایرانی گنجینۀ عظیمی از داده­های زبانی هستند که می­تواند در زبان‌شناسی زبان‌های ایرانی استفاده شود. این مقاله به ریشه­شناسی 12 واژه از گویش‌های مختلف ایرانی می­پردازد. درمورد هر واژه پس از بررسی برابر یا همریشۀ واژه در دیگر گویش‌ها و زبان‌های ایرانی، صورت ایرانی باستان واژه بازسازی، و روند دگرگونی آوایی واژه از ایرانی باستان به گویش‌های ایرانی بررسی شده‌است. در ریشه­شناسی واژه‌ها به‌ویژه بر تمایز بین صورت واژه در گویش‌های شمال­غربی و جنوب­غربی تأکید شده. واژه­هایی که در این مقاله از گویش‌های مختلف ایرانی ریشه­شناسی شده­اند، شامل این واژه­ها هستند: <br /> arde/âla «کنار، پهلو، نیمه»؛ast/hast  «خانه، حیاط»؛ daha «داسه»؛ gwask/bīg «بزغاله، گوساله»؛ gūn «پستان دام»؛ jeven «هاون غلات»؛ jəxūn «خرمن»؛ kahra «بزغاله»؛ kətū «سگ»؛ mâl «دام، چهارپا»؛ tâta «عمو»؛ xal «کج، خمیده». https://zaban.guilan.ac.ir/article_1845_b5c90edd09206e0895019545b41bf8de.pdf
